Awesome weekend of fights!

This past weekend there were some amazing fights, and I am not talking about the Strikeforce fights on showtime. I am talking about the fights held in Winchester VA. The evening of fights was put on by Onslaught Fights, the event was appropriately named Art of War. Conquest had two fighters putting it on the line that evening. The first Conquest member to step in the cage that night was Adam McClure. Adam was making his MMA debut at 135 lbs. Adam came out in the first round showing amazing striking skills and take down defense. Had his opponent out on his feet near the end of the round. Missing the last two punches his opponent composed him self and survived the first round. Going in to the second and third round it was an absolute back and forth war! Adam stayed in there toughed it out but ended up losing by decision. We are very proud of Adam, and with only training under a year and being so young we are sure he has a bright future ahead of him.

The next and final Conquest fighter of the night was Nate Grebb. This was Nate's 9th MMA fight and the experience showed. Going in to the cage Nate looked calm and ready to handle business. Nate opened the fight up with a quick leg kick and then defended a tight take down attempt. Nate quickly made space and let his hands go! It almost seemed that every punch thrown was landed with bad intentions. Losing the fight standing up Nate's opponent attempted another take down. This one ended up successful, but with Nate's increasingly growing skill on the ground he quickly defended the position and used a half guard sweep to come on top. Throwing fist and dropping elbows from the top position Nate's opponent desperately tried to scramble out. After a couple hard hits he was able to escape but to only find himself once again on the receiving end of Nate's feet and fist! Nate landed some great combinations and then a hard hitting head kick that sent his opponent running. Nate followed through with his attack until the ref stepped in and stopped the fight in the middle of the first round. This was by far Nate's best performance in the cage setting his MMA record to now 6 and 3. With all the cage time and experience expect Nate Grebb to be getting another title shot very soon, then turning pro with in the next year.

Stay tuned for more Conquest News with more MMA fight happening July 9th and some major BJJ tournaments coming up!
